UK Vaccine Passport App Sends Biometric Facial Recognition Data to Private Company, Shares With Law Enforcement

The vaccine passport app used by the United Kingdom’s public health system is using a private company to collect and process biometric facial recognition data, and the National Health Service (NHS) admits the data collected can be accessed by UK law enforcement, according to a new report.

In a Sept. 16 exposé by The Guardian, the NHS App, which serves not only as a vaccine passport, but allows users to view their health records, fill repeat prescriptions, and book medical service appointments, verifies citizens’ identities by having them upload a video of their face, which is used to compare against the photo registered with their government identification.

Pfizer recalls all batches of anti-smoking drug Chantix due to the risk of cancer

Pfizer has announced it has recalled all batches of its popular anti-smoking drug Chantix because of the increased risk of cancer due to high nitrosamine levels, according to a Reuters report.

When Pfizer halted distribution of the drug in June, a spokesman said the company believed the drug’s benefits outweigh the very low potential risks, if any, posed by exposure to the nitrosamines in the drug.

But a month later, it had to recall more than a dozen lots that were on sale in the U.S. and is now recalling all lots nationwide.

North Koreans Resentful of Missile Launches Amid Hunger and Poverty

Citizens in North Korea are becoming increasingly angry that state media is touting this week’s cruise missile tests as a major national defense achievement when many are struggling to find their next meal.
